Pogotracks – or how cool can copy + paste get?

“Pogotracks/Faggotron” has taken old and new movies/tv-shows and shredded them into small pieces only to reassemble them with beautiful electronic music as pillars. This is an example of how copy + paste skill can reach a point where it is truly an art in and of itself.

TED broadcasts truly inspiring talks from some of the most interesting persons on the planet. All categorized and tagged, separated into 8-minute or 18-minute talks, all given freely to the world under the creative commons licence. Here is a few of my favourites:

The Virtual Choir

The composer and conductor Eric Whitacre uploaded two videos on youtube. One was a piano-track used to que choir-voices. The other was a video of himself conducting his music composition ‘Sleep’ and thus the first youtube choir audition was held. Of the many applicants over 2.000 were selected. Each put on headphones and sang into their webcams, Eric then consolidated all the voices into one huge choir. This is an example of how the internet can be used to truly connect human beings separated in time and space. Each sitting in his or or her own corner of the world and still united in a choir, in one song. Which by the way is the meaning of the word “Universe”; Uno + versum “One Verse/Song”. Symphony Of Science

The concept of “Symphhony of Science” is to take comments and descriptions from documentaries about natural sciences and through autotuning and electronic composition transform it into music. And the result is beautiful. The fusion of arts, media and science into a representation that draws out the passion and poetry found in the search for understanding the fundamental fabric of the universe. As Richard Dawkins sweetly sings in one of the films “Science is the poetry of Reality”
